Three inputs: amount, rate (annual %) and term in months. Three outputs: monthly payment, total interest and total repaid. Illustrative arithmetic only; funding partners set real terms.
Term loan calculator: how it works for Austin, MN insurance agencies
The calculator on this page assumes a level monthly payment, the way a standard amortizing term loan works: each installment covers the month's interest and pays down part of the balance. Type in the amount, the rate (annual %) and the term in months, and it returns the estimated monthly payment, the total interest and the total repaid.
Illustration only, invented figures: an agency planning a $30,000 office furnishing package with new desks, phones and a server tries 48 months at 9.25% a year. The payment comes out at $750.12 a month. The agency can then set that figure against its monthly commission deposits before calling anyone.
Contractors and shops use it the same way. Illustration only, invented figures: a plumbing and HVAC contractor pricing a $65,000 van with shelving and a drain-cleaning machine enters 72 months at 9.75%, and sees an installment of $1,196.00. An auto repair shop testing $14,000 for a second lift over 36 months at 10.5% gets $455.03. Either owner can then change one input at a time, such as a shorter term or a lower amount, and watch how the payment moves before deciding what to ask a partner for.
Term loan rate calculator for restaurants in Mower County, MN
The calculator does not look up a rate; you supply one. That makes it useful for testing how much the rate moves the payment before a restaurant has an offer in hand.
| Rate (annual %) | Monthly payment | Total interest |
|---|---|---|
| 7% | $792.05 | $7,523.00 |
| 8.5% | $820.66 | $9,239.60 |
| 10% | $849.88 | $10,992.80 |
| 11.5% | $879.70 | $12,782.00 |
| 13% | $910.12 | $14,607.20 |
| 14.5% | $941.13 | $16,467.80 |
Every step up in rate adds to both the payment and the total interest. When an offer arrives, enter its actual rate and term to see where it lands.
Check the units first. The rate box expects an annual percentage, so a rate quoted per month has to be multiplied by 12 before it goes in, and a term quoted in years has to be turned into months. A kitchen comparing two offers should enter both the same way.
Bank-style term loan calculator: how it works for Austin, MN insurance agencies
A bank-style term loan spreads the balance over a fixed number of equal monthly installments. The calculator on this page follows that method. Changing the term is the other lever an agency has, and the table shows what it does to the same amount at one rate.
| Term | Monthly payment | Total interest |
|---|---|---|
| 24 months | $1,845.80 | $4,299.20 |
| 36 months | $1,290.69 | $6,464.84 |
| 48 months | $1,014.50 | $8,696.00 |
| 60 months | $849.88 | $10,992.80 |
| 72 months | $741.03 | $13,354.16 |
| 84 months | $664.05 | $15,780.20 |
A longer term lowers the installment and raises the interest paid. The right term is the one the agency's commission income carries without strain.
Term loan yield calculator in Austin, MN: what a grocer can compare
Yield is the lender's view of a loan: the return the interest earns on the money lent. Yield is not one of the outputs of the calculator on this page. A grocer can work out the borrower's side of the same idea by hand: total interest as a share of the amount borrowed.
Illustration only, invented figures: a $50,000 loan for coolers and new checkout counters, over 36 months at 11% a year, has a payment of $1,636.94. Over the term the store pays $8,929.84 in interest, which is 17.9% of the amount borrowed, our arithmetic from the rounded payment. Fees, if a partner charges any, would add to that share.
Comparing that share across two offers with different terms shows which costs more in total, which a monthly figure alone does not.
